Quinta Mazatlan
Sat Apr 4, 7:01 PMMilkweeds are powerhouse plants! Not only are they important host plants for the charismatic Monarch, Queen, and Soldier butterflies, but they also provide food for a wide variety of bees, beetles, ladybeetles, moths, and other insects. There are 17 native milkweeds in the Rio Grande Valley, ranging from the common Zizotes Milkweed to the endangered Prostrate Milkweed - all beautiful and important parts of our ecosystem. Learn about all our local milkweed species - along with the wildlife associated with them - during our Milkweeds 101 workshop on April 11th, 2026. Participants will get ideas on how to add them to their gardens and receive milkweed seeds to take home!
