The exhibition will be juried by Nancy Moyer, Professor Emerita of Art, and will feature original artwork submitted by IMAS members. Join the museum for our annual Día de los Muertos Festival, including a market featuring regional artists and artisans, on October 10 from 1-5 p.m. This lively event will include a performance by nationally and internationally recognized Ballet Folklórico UTRGV, and a display of altars created by community organizations. Activities include papel picado, butterfly shadowbox, and Lotería. Sugar skull decorating will be available for an additional cost of $2 per participant (limited supply). Today is the LAST DAY to submit an altar interest form for the Dia De Los Muertos exhibit at IMAS. We invite the community to celebrate Dia de los Muertos by submitting an altar for the exhibit this fall. The altar exhibit will include ten ofrendas on display at the IMAS from October 6 through November 6, 2021. This year’s theme for community altars is Civic Leaders. Create an altar for an individual who became a leader by humbly serving their community. The entry deadline for community altars is September 17 and setup will take place October 2-5 in the IMAS Welcome Pavilion. Everyone had a fabulous time at the IMAS Member Preview Reception of "Imagined Worlds: Exploring the Carlos Melguizo Collection", last night.
