Discover a lesser-known part of Rio Grande Valley history at Palm View Branch Library, 3401 Jordan Ave., McAllen. On Saturday, June 20, at 2PM, Roseann Bacha-Garza from Utrgv Chaps Program will present "Pathways to Freedom Through the RGV," a look at the stories of African Americans in the Rio Grande Valley, including Black U.S. Troops stationed in the region and the networks that helped freedom seekers escape enslavement and find refuge in South Texas. An exhibit related to the program will be on display from June 15 through June 30.
