Only six cities were named 2026 IFEA World Festival & Event Cities, with McAllen among the communities recognized for their outstanding support of festivals and events. Quinta Mazatlán earned eight Gold awards, including Best Green Program for Planta Nativa, Best Educational Program for ReFest, Best Overall Entertainment Program for Thursday Night Live, and Best Children’s Programming. Quinta Mazatlán also received a Silver Pinnacle Award for Monarch Fest. Also congratulations to the McAllen Public Library, McAllen Holiday Parade, MCC Sunset Live and McAllen Public Works for receiving awards. It was an honor to be recognized on the national stage.

In addition to the keynote presentation by Cyrus Harp of Paleo Foraging, Planta Nativa also includes a courtyard marketplace and community space to talk, shop, and enjoy the atmosphere of Quinta Mazatlan in the evening. This is a great way to learn from local native plant experts, meet fellow plant enthusiasts, support local businesses, and hear about conservation and research efforts in the RGV.
