Horacio Renteria (1912 - 1972) was a beloved Mexican painter of a popular folk art style that came to prominence in the mid 20th century. His work, which mostly features children in traditional and often formal or elaborate dress, portrays an idealized past that is both charming and nostalgic. His paintings are sought after by collectors of Mexican artwork, in part for his vintage, old-world aesthetic and picturesque, idealized children.
