There are over 1,000 moth species documented in the Rio Grande Valley, which is about 3x more than butterflies in the region. Moths are also incredibly diverse in appearance and behavior - some moths are bright and active during the day, others at night. Some hide themselves with amazing camouflage, while others hide in broad daylight disguised as wasps. Their caterpillars eat milkweeds to local native trees, vines, and more.
