TWO WEEKS LEFT to experience Lowrider Culture in the United States! On exhibit through Sunday, November 15 at the International Museum of Art & Science 1900 W. Nolana Ave. McAllen, TX Organized by the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in collaboration with the National Museum of American History and the National Museum of the American Latino. Lowriding is more than a car culture. It is a tradition rooted in Mexican American communities dating back to the 1940s, representing creativity, identity, family, and cultural pride. Through custom vehicles, vibrant photography, artwork, and objects, this exhibition explores the history and influence of lowriding throughout the United States. What makes this exhibition especially meaningful at IMAS is the involvement of our own Rio Grande Valley lowrider community. Many of the objects and contributions featured in the exhibition come directly from local collectors, artists, and community members who have helped preserve and share this important part of our region’s cultural history. Don’t miss your chance to experience this exhibition before it closes!

MEZCLA MESTIZA A Solo Exhibition by Alexis Marie Ramos Join us at Hinovations Art Gallery for the opening reception of Mezcla Mestiza, a multidisciplinary exhibition by Rio Grande Valley artist and South Texas College art professor Alexis Marie Ramos, presented in conjunction with the McAllen First Friday Art Walk. Through a vibrant exploration of culture, color, materials, and artistic traditions, Ramos examines the connections between identity, history, and the cultural practices passed down through generations. Drawing inspiration from her borderland heritage, childhood memories, traditional foods, folk medicine, and pre-Columbian mysticism, Ramos explores the many influences that shape Mexican and mestizo identity. Mezcla Mestiza invites viewers to consider the relationship between art and cultural memory, honoring the traditions that connect us to our ancestors while celebrating the diversity of our shared heritage.
