Quinta Mazatlan
Sat Jun 20, 7:00 PMWe're celebrating #TexasTortoiseDay in collaboration with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and the McCracken Lab at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi! The Texas Tortoise is our only native tortoise species in the state. In the entire world, they are only found in South Texas and northeastern Mexico, and are often seen here in the RGV. They can be seen in many of the local state parks, wildlife refuges, and out in the countryside. If you find a tortoise, remember that even though they are cute, they can't be taken to be a pet - as a protected species, it is illegal to take one home with you. As with most wildlife, its best to simply enjoy the encounter and let them go on their way! Learn more about these cute and Texas-tough tortoises by swiping through!
