🎨 Still Life Through Time at Hinovations
This school year our students have been traveling through history with paintbrush in hand!
We began with Egyptian still lifes, inspired by offerings of food and flowers left to honor the afterlife.
Then we studied Roman banquet scenes, where fruits and vessels celebrated abundance and daily life.
Now, just in time for the season, we’re stepping into the Medieval era. Still lifes of this period often carried deeper meaning—letters illuminated with fruit, and symbolic objects like skulls, reminded viewers of the cycles of life, death, and renewal. Perfect themes as we move into fall. 🍎💀🍇
Still life painting has always been more than just bowls of fruit—it’s a window into culture, belief, and the beauty of everyday objects. Our students are discovering that each brushstroke connects them to centuries of artists before them.
✨ Follow along as we continue our journey through art history all the way into spring!
