UPDATED 2026 MIDNIGHT RELEASE SCHEDULE and our first one is NEXT WEEK! Okay so to make these midnight releases possible, I need you guys to read below the ground rules and how this is all going to work. Our distributor for Marvel (which also distributes IDW, Dark Horse, and Boom! Studios) has decided to work with us and allow us to host midnight releases! Doors are now going to open at 12AM during those releases! And only the publishers that are listed above are able to be taken home after midnight of that release date. The distributor for DC (who also runs IMAGE/SKYBOUND) allows pre-payments on new comics but unfortunately cannot be taken home during the midnight release. Once pre-paid, they will be put aside and can be taken home during our regular operation hours (11AM-8PM on Wednesday, 12PM-8PM Thursday-Saturday). SHORT VERSION: 12AM, we open. Marvel, IDW, DarkHorse and Boom! Studios comics can be physically in your hands during the event. DC and Image/Skybound cannot, but can still be pre-paid in advanced. So yes, Midnight releases are still happening but we just gotta ensure these extra steps to make it work. And seeing how awesome the RGV community is, we’re going to make it happen. So FREE PIZZA, FUN GAMES, and GREAT VIBES here at Kaboom!

You guys thought we were going to just give up on the midnight releases? The support that we’ve received from everyone, not only people in the RGV but somehow, this has reached a global audience from people out of state and even out of country. Your support has made fighting for these community events a lot easier. And yeah, there’s a bit of hate in the comments too, and I’d lie if I said your hate didn’t boost it for us either, but no need to give you that satisfaction. Either way, it looks like something might just work out after all. However, there will be some extra protocol and large detail on how these will be run. Just give us a bit as we work out the logistics. As for now, tonight’s midnight release is still canceled. But we’re working on the future ones so stay tuned for that. Ladies and gentlemen. It isn’t looking too good with these midnight releases. It’s been a real blast and we hope you all enjoyed going to them as much as we enjoyed hosting them. Today, our hearts are heavy as we share some incredibly difficult news. We have lost one of our absolute best. Our long-time family member, the incomparable Betty Jean Andrews, has passed away. Betty was more than just a performer; she was a pillar of our LGBTQ+ community and a part of the Pecado family since the very moment our doors first opened. We are devastated by this loss. To know her was to know a sweet, kind, and radiant soul. While we are in mourning, we are also profoundly grateful for every moment, every laugh, and every performance Betty shared with us. We will do our best to honor her legacy in the days and weeks ahead. A Celebration of Life We are currently planning a celebration to honor Betty’s life and legacy. We want our entire community to be there to say goodbye. Details will be announced as soon as they are finalized. Betty was an integral part of our journey from the very beginning. As we close out 2025, we’re reflecting on the many meaningful ways the McAllen Farmers Market helped our community access fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. This year marked incredible growth, with 7,815 WIC FMNP vouchers distributed and $2,200 in Double Up Bucks provided to help local families stretch their food dollars and shop healthier. Later in the year, we were proud to partner with the Raul Tijerina Jr. Foundation and Texas Local Food to launch Farmers Market Buddy Bucks for.a limited time, encouraging neighbors to bring a friend and discover even more locally grown produce together. What an incredible year it has been. We just want to thank everyone again for last night. Since opening at 10PM, we had a full house and as time went by, it got even fuller. We weren’t expecting to sell out of all 700 blind bags last night in 1 hour but we did and you guys are awesome for that. The comic book community only continues to grow and we’re happy to be a part of it. We’ll be having our next midnight release next Tuesday and we will continue to make them bigger and better. We’ll do whatever it takes to bring the RGV comic book community together 🤘

Better late than never, right? 😊 On Saturday, December 13th, we had such an amazing day! We kicked things off with a bird walk Santa Ana & Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuges where we spotted some fantastic birds, including verdins and a merlin. 🦅 Later that day, Dr. Andrea Contina visited the store and gave an absolutely fascinating talk about his migratory bird research!
