Get to know us! I am Lorena Silva, I came legally to this country in 2007 and kept my Mexican job working from home until I needed US income to become a citizen. So I learned to speak English in my own special way since I have a strong accent still, but I learned enough to start selling Mexican artisanal clothing on Facebook groups from my house, my first investment was 3 embroidered blouses. They were a hit! I ordered 25 more for many people that requested them. Then I added a different style, then another, then I had my house full of visitors even from other cities that came and purchased many stuff even wholesale for reselling. I was very naive and I was hurted by some of them because they paid with bad checks so I had my fisrt loses back then, I still have lots of bad checks, but I kept selling and started selling on Poshmark, eBay, Etsy and finally, Shopify. I also rented a small booth inside Memory Lane Resale Shop & Boutique former Our Little Thrift Store, and stayed there for 3 years with great success with the wonderful help of Christina Fuentes and Annie Ramirez. It was time to move on my own so I opened a shop in Mission TX, only for a year because it was a little too far from home, so we moved to 10th St and still here, I can not thank enough the RGV for the continued support over the years, specially during the pandemic on 2020, the talented Mitch Darte shared a photo of some embroidered facemasks she bought from us and the picture went viral, helping us tremendously to stay in business against all odds. My niche of business is not an easy or lucrative one, see we sell slow fashion in a world filled with fast fashion, meaning our clothing and accessories take skills and time, lots of time, also most people only look for our items near May or September. So we struggle the rest of the months but thanks to you that made a Mexican themed fiesta, Loteria nights, Mexican XV or wedding, etc you guys have been a blessing! We were not here without you! Many times I have thought of closing the shop and sell online specially now that I am a mother a 5 months old baby girl at 43... imagine how tired I am lol! But for now I am still here and if you have never stopped by my shop I encourage to come and enjoy a bit of Mexico´s best craftmanship! Thank you so much for reading a little about my journey, I would like to meet you too! Tell me about you, I want to know you! And thanks for your support, even a like, a comment or share helps a lot!
