We will learn more about carnivorous wildlife that call Texas home. On Thursday, November 21st starting at 6:00 pm at Quinta Mazatlán, Dr. Tomecek will present, “Wild Texas Carnivores!” and talk about some of the most recent research from the Texas Carnivore Ecology Laboratory at Texas A&M University, how this work is helping us to learn more about our wild Texas carnivores, and what the future holds. This program is $3 per person and all ages are welcome!

There are leafwings and satyrs, hairstreaks and sisters, metalmarks and skippers, and many more. Butterflies are popular representatives of nature’s beauty, often symbolizing rebirth. Did you know there are over 300 species of butterfly found in the Valley? Many of them only lay their eggs on a few species of plants! This session, participants will be introduced to the variety of butterflies found in the region, along with ideas on how to attract them to your yard. Tish Hinojosa is a singer-songwriter from Austin, Texas. Tish’s sound is one-of-a-kind, and iconic within the blend of folk, country, Latino, and pop. Tish will be performing songs of the Christmas season from my Christmas CD "From Texas For A Christmas Night". These songs cover themes from lively Western Swing to Tex-Mex story-telling and Christmas standards. She will also include other favorites from her catalog of seventeen records from 1987 to present. This program is for all ages, and is $3 per person.

Illumina Fest 2019

Quinta Mazatlan is preparing for the 1st Annual Illumina Fest on December 13th and 14th, from 7 pm to 10 pm. Thousands of luminarias will line the forest path sponsored by SpawGlass. This two night event is an interactive global celebration of light, recognizing a world of holidays. The interactive festival will feature the amazing Media Artist Joel Laviolette of Austin, Texas; Flowbotic--LED & Fire Dancers of San Antonio, Texas; as well as many local community choirs and instrumentalists. In addition to visits with Santa Claus, families will travel the trails and get a glimpse of how the world celebrates with light across the seven continents. From Africa’s Kwanzaa candelabra to Asia’s lanterns in the water. Food and drinks will be available for sale by local vendors.
